Peppermint Shrimp

Lysmata wurdemanni

This unobtrusive little shrimp is a good species to have around. Even though it may not be as outlandishly colored as the other shrimp (it is attractive with its red stripes on a clear body), and it is much shyer by nature than most of them, it makes for a very nice cleaner shrimp. They live inside the live rock, unfortunately only making rare appearences outside it. A lot of people really like them for the tank, because they are one of the few animals that will eat aiptasia (pest anemones), but is still largely reef safe. There are occasional stories of them bothering featherworms, but I have not had this problem with mine, and my feathers still open up without fear.
