This fish, as is obvious from the photo, is striking in the reef tank, especially in a small school. Should be kept as one male in a school with many females.
Like all anthias, they can change sex throughout their life. If the dominant male dies, the largest female will usually turn male and take his place. Drawbacks are that they need frequent feeding and are often picky eaters, sometimes causing nitrate spikes in the reef aquarium. Actually, I have never kept this particular anthias, but rather I kept the lyretail anthias (P. squamipinnis) in my reef tank before I took them out due to the fact that I couldn't keep up with their constant frozen food-only feeding schedule.
