Pearl Gourami

Trichogaster leeri

There is not much to say about the pearl gourami, except that it is a beautiful and graceful fish. In size, they are in between the dwarf gourami and the kissing gourami, and they are suitable for medium to large tanks with other peaceful inhabitants.

In color, they are dazzling, with spots and silvery coloration; they also have small filaments coming from the anal fin that guilds their body. We have a pair in our 75gal tankthat are really beautiful to watch. Behavior-wise, they tend to leave other fish alone, and are pretty peaceful for the most part, except when they are breeding.

Mating gouramis is very similar to mating bettas. Likewise, they are also labyrinth fish that can breath from the surface,

and build bubble-nests in which to care for their young.
