This is a pretty rare soft coral that I only had the good fortune to come across accidentally through a local reef hobbyist. The stalks are quite a bit bigger and thicker than those of the common elongata xenia, and were very beautiful waving under the powerheads.
Care was much the same as for X. elongata also, and I found it to be fairly undemanding *until* a kalkwasser overdosing incident in the 60gal tank. Unfortunately, it and my beautiful derasa clam were the animals that went with that; all my other xenia amazingly came through without so much closing or missing a beat! The Giant Bali, however, shriveled up almost immediately after the alkalinity got high, and never did recover after that. It will definitely be very much missed.
