This beautiful coral is another example of the xenia I have grown to love so much. It is more compact than X. elongata, and not quite as aggressive a grower,
though it too will flourish and cover a rock in no time given proper lighting, current, and water conditions (similiar requirements). Some of mine died off after the tank move to the 60gal tank, however the small base tissue regenerated tiny polyps, which are now starting to grow large and pulse again. There is some confusion over the naming of these xenias, and the pom pom variety is often sold under the name "Red Sea xenia" (when in reality, many species of xenia come from the Red Sea).
